Nearing its 24th anniversary, CiaTeatro Epigenia has been invited to participate in important festivals and tours throughout Brazil, in addition to regular seasons in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. With excellent critical and audience feedback, consistent with its dedication and proven quality in projects that have achieved unquestionable success, and with numerous nominations, excellent reviews, and important awards, the company has become a national reference among the country's leading theater groups over the last decade.
"The work of the Rio-based CiaTeatro Epigenia fills a gap in the contemporary theater scene: divided between alternative creations and commercial plays (...) Hollywood is
the company's third foray into Mamet's theater. Previously, it was Oleanna and Race –
both award-winning creations."
Maria Eugênia de Menezes, Estado de São Paulo - 2018
A history filled with partnerships with the most important public and private institutions in Brazil. Numerous projects sponsored through cultural grants at all three levels of government (Federal, State, and Municipal).
Respecting the nature of its formation, the Company sought to be, above all, national. Our goal has always been to perform theater throughout the country. We have toured 21 of the 26 Brazilian states, covering more than 80 municipalities.

For over 10 years, the Company's shows have been among the best of the year, garnering numerous positive reviews, nominations, and awards for its productions, both in children's and adult theater, in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. In 2018, Company director Gustavo Paso was the only director nominated for Best Director in two of the most important Brazilian theater awards: Shell/SP and APCA, for David Mamet's play HOLLYWOOD.
In addition to nominations, the Mamet Trilogy and the children's play Casa Caramujo attracted over 30,000 spectators, a significant number given the fact that they are dramas that address themes such as racism, sexual harassment, sexism, social intolerance, and a children's play that addresses death.
The company has garnered numerous nominations for its productions in both children's and adult theater in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. In 2017, in the midst of the crisis, the company staged four plays, a herculean effort, and received nominations and important awards for all of them.
In 2018, we opened the São Paulo season by receiving the Specialized Jury Award from Aplauso Brasil for Best Company Show, and Best Director nominations from the Shell and APCA Awards for Gustavo Paso, both for HOLLYWOOD. This was the year we performed in São Paulo and toured with Hollywood and Casa Caramujo.
In 2019, we premiered Arthur Miller's THE PRICE at SESC Arena Copacabana for a short, highly successful run. This was followed by a series of Hollywood tours, including Casa Caramujo (also returning to Rio at Teatro Fashion Mall).
"A rare pleasure."

directed by Gustavo Paso
Barbara Heliodora was one of the greatest critics in the history of Brazilian theater. Of the five reviews Barbara Heliodora wrote about the company's work, four were excellent, praising the shows and the creations of director Gustavo Paso.
